2K Hires Popular Battle Royale Producer to Boost Challenged Hero Shooter Ambitious Title

2K Games has secured a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to oversee the development team at 31st Union, which is currently crafting the anticipated third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Management Change Follows Lukewarm Reception

Brinkman assumes the role of studio head at 31st Union following the departure of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' lackluster initial reveal last fall.

On Wednesday, the company's top executive David Ismailer notified employees about this organizational change through an official communication, which stressed that early feedback sessions had shown the need for a more defined vision.

The president noted that the developers is now reimagining Project Ethos with a revised approach, aiming to satisfy community desires.

A Pattern of Strategic Acquisitions

The news mirrors a comparable action taken by the publisher in the summer, when they hired an industry veteran from Blizzard to work on the beloved franchise development group.

Below is the entire message from Ismailer's announcement:

Dear Team—

I know you all just wrapped up your town hall - I hope you’re as excited as I am with the good news. Last time I sent you all a note, I mentioned the following: “I believe in this crew. You all are some of the most dedicated and talented designers we have had the opportunity to work with - and we’re excited for that collaboration to continue.”

Through your commitment and flexibility, especially over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.

The player input from last autumn’s Project ETHOS testing phase was enlightening. It affirmed the promise of a action-packed game but told us we still had work to do. It revealed the need for a more distinct brand.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve progressed. You took the feedback to consideration and reimagined Project ETHOS with a revitalized vision - one that’s ready to fulfill its ambition to our players.

The trust in Project ETHOS strengthens every day. To further the incredible development you’ve made, I’m excited to introduce the new hire as the new Studio Head of 31st Union. After some time of talks, Ben comes aboard us on next week.

His management and background in the PVP shooter genre is considerable, having dedicated the last 15 years producing and leading some of the most well-known franchises in the industry, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and most recently, Apex Legends.

Please join me in receiving him in the coming days. We are all eager to continue seeing the progress of the game in the time to follow.

David
